A clash that would have had serious repercussions in the film industry, in terms of box office collections, has finally been averted.
Media has been abuzz with the release dates of two big banner movies, namelyOnce Upon A Time In Mumbai and Chennai Express clashing.
OUATIMA stars Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan while Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone will be seen romancing in Chennai Express. Trade pundits believed that two films releasing on the same day would have meant financial loss for the industry as the audience would get split.
But, now the clash has been averted. According to changed plans, Chennai Express will release on 8 August while OUATIMA/ would hit the silver screen on 15 August (2013). That means, Chennai Express will easily get 3200 screens giving it a golden chance to cross the benchmark of Rs100 crore in the first week itself.
On the other hand, OUATIMA will get a bumper opening on Independence Day itself but the performance of Chennai Express will definitely have a telling affect on whether the Akshay Kumar-starrer will get a higher number or not.
So right now it looks like a win-win situation for both the films.
And finally, the ones to decide the fate of these films would be the cinema-going public at large.
