Emraan Hashmi-Vidya Balan's film 'Ghanchakkar' managed a fair start over the weekend, especially at the multiplexes. But the Dhanush-Sonam Kapoor romantic saga 'Raanjhanaa' ate into its collections.
To add to this, Fukrey remained steady and went on to touch 30 crore. Raanjhanaa, which is steady in the mass belt, has now reached around 42 crore, making way for itself in the list of hits. This will be Aanand L Rai's second success as will it be for Sonam Kapoor.
The studio backing Ghanchakkar communicated that with the monies they have received from the opening weekend in India and overseas, satellite and ancillary rights of this comic thriller, they will manage to break even. However, the trade wants Emraan back in some hardcore commercial ventures. His "makeover" in Shanghai, Ek Thi Daayan and Ghanchakkar may have helped him discover little-known aspects of himself as an actor, but the ticket sales have not been heartening for his different work.
