Jodha Akbar - A First View

Post by ShaliniRobinson on 2013-08-13, 23:09

Saw Jodha Akbar yesterday. I haven't really been following it much. Just the last few episodes caught attention when the actual wedding was on and Jodha decided to put forward her conditions for the wedding.

What got me was the similarity to the movie and, to be honest, initially I had to work to watch it unbiased, trying to not compare the Rajat to Hrithik and Paridhi to Aishwarya.
But then I gotta say - after watching a couple of episodes, they tend to grow on you – and I commend them for creating an identity of their own.

And yeah... finally, I am enjoying something on TV... as of now.

The only tiny concern - dear, O dear... it is being done by the saas-bahu specialist. I hope it remains Jodha Akbar and doesn't turn into: Jodha and Akbar ki Ammi or Akbar and Jodha ka bhai/bhatija or Jodha Akbar and unke bahut saare rishtedaar aur unke anginat kaarnaame!!

~~~
The Shah-en-Shah
So... as per Monday's episode - a drunk king declared his hatred, or is that a tame word... for his new wife; he pronounces his reason for marrying her and that is to humiliate her; and he announces that he would never give her the satisfaction of feeling loved or wanted.
And he goes to declare that he'd NEVER let that happen!
First thought: uh oh! Someone be ready to eat their words!
Second thought: What the heck is wrong with men!?
There's a new wife before you and all you can think of is inventing new ways to humiliate her!!!
Typical I'll-show-you-who's-the-boss syndrome!!
The New Queen
And no! She ain't far off. She declares she wants him to hate her and that he better keep himself occupied with his other flock of wives. Plus, she never leaves a chance to show her level of hatred a step higher than that of her husband. If he hates her, she abhors him.
And then she goes: I'd do anything to see my parents happy.
First thought: how consistent with women all over the ages!
Second thought: what the heck is wrong with using some common sense and 'knowing' that Akbar would never tell it to her Dad and Mom? Besides, wouldn't it be better to find out 'if' Akbar would think of telling them, rather than to be super-confident about your own inference.
There's a crafty king before you who's worked everything to his benefit and you fell for his tricks - and yet, you trust your own judgment still...
Typical I-know-I'm-always-right syndrome!!
Maaham Anga
In a rough translation: hatred lives in the heart where love lives too. There is a thin line between love and hatred.
And she's scared!
Hmm... bad news for the hatred of poor Akbar.
Waise bhi Jalal ke lakshan kucch hatred waale nahi hain!
The chap's getting the dame to give him a 'gusal'!! - which may not have been possible if not for Jodha's I'm-always-right syndrome that led to the manifestation of Jalal's I'll-show-you-who's-the-boss syndrome.
~~~

Begum Ruqaiyaa lives confidently in the knowledge that she rules over Jalal's mind. She couldn't have seen it coming that Jalal would reward Maan Singh.

So... where does that leave you to rule Jodha!?

I think I respect Maan Singh! And I DO wish he stays the same.
And yeah... Suja Mal ain't too bad either.

How come all the gents on Jodha's side are gentlemen and all the ones on Jalal's side - including himself - are MCPs??!

Now, here comes one of the many sasuraalis of Jalal. Let's see!

 Thank you so much, Buddy! :)
Yes.. it does, as yet, have this quality of drawing attention :)

As of now, Jodha is compromising with her fate. I am looking forward to how does she pick herself up again. i wonder if her mother's visit has something to do with the uplifting of her zeal.

WIL... well... it comes from inspiration. If something hits me hard enough, a WIL can be brought back :)sadly, nothing has done that since IPK :)
