The Shift is here

Post by ShaliniRobinson on 2013-11-04, 23:49

What began as mere hints of changes in Jalal before the Amer trip ever was heard about, are now showing themselves as a herald for massive changes in the Moghul palace, government, and environment.

This is something Maaham was worried about and here are her fears before her.

It may not have been an issue if Jalal was just Jalal. The problem is that he is the Shah-en-shah. If he accepts any change then it means the sultanate is not going be very far behind in embracing it.

... and this is what scares them that are holding on to their royal seats with both hands.

Whatever Jalal does sees a ripple effect in the kingdom. No wonder whenever he does something, he reflects on - 'Awaam ko ye paigaam pahunchega...'

One has to give the credit where due. The people responsible for Jalal's character development deserve a pat on their back.

*

While it was one facet of the king to remain calm in the face of rebellious and angry religious leaders; another facet blazed in the diwan-e-khaas when he stared hawk-eyed at the fabric of his government for a hole - someone was leaking information against him and using it against him.

The change that Adham is bothered about is that there a hidden/new enemy of Jalal. Granted, but -- The change that he should be bothered about is that Jalal has become more keen and alert to loopholes and gaps in his government.

*

Ruqaiya is worried and tensed and probably jealous on the news that Jalal and Jodha were together during the storm. Granted, but --- The change that she should be bothered about is that Jalal would honor his promise to Jodha, no matter the circumstances.
The promise of allowing her to walk in the ways of her religion was the promise of a king. So it was covered.
The promise of keeping distance from her because she did not allow him was the promise of a 'shauhar'. This one is a problem!

This is the second time Jalal has noticed how nosey Ruqu tends to get and he has not liked it. He's lied to her in the past and might again, and denied her the 'haq' she claimed - for Jodha's sake.

Ruqaiya should be more bothered about this change.

What's more Ruqu was certain that Jodha craved for Jalal's hatred. If she believes what she heard about the 'toofan' and the 'khema', then she should be bothered about the changing feelings of Jodha for Jalal.

~

Ruqaiya is scared because she has always sought a place above the king - a place where she controls the king. Ruqaiya's identity faces a crisis if Jalal favors Jodha more than her.

Jodha has always been unafraid because she saw herself as his equal - not less, not more. She's never lost touch with her identity as an individual. She is now learning to respect his place as well.

*

In fact, I wonder why Maaham is losing perspective.
If they all managed to change Jodha's religion - which seemed to be her viewpoint - she'd be going directly against Jalal's wish to capture the hearts of the nation.
Maaham is very scared that Jalal is standing by his word and would not force Jodha.
What she should be bothered about is that Jalal is very aware of Jodha's situation and comes to her aid - contrary to her belief that he'd lose interest in her.
What should bother her is that she refused to let anyone pressurize Jodha - and that includes Ruqu and Maaham herself.

What she should be bothered about is that Jodha chooses Hamida as her shield, who tricks the entire diwan-e-khaas for Jodha's sake.

Maaham should be bothered that the foothold is weakening. And ... probably she is.

*

Interestingly, in the precap, the part that Jodha reads out to Jalal is about keeping calm and that would bring out the snake from its hiding place.
Adham alert!!

Awesome post Shayamala .... Today I loved the scene where MA is amazed with Hameeda's wit/chaal ...in saving Jodha from the forced conversion ...... Hameeda has proved today that she is indeed above all the others of the diwan e khaas .. She is the ammi jaan the mother figure .... And No wonder Jalal looks ip to her so much ... And even Jodha trusts her blindly ...

Righto too!! the shift is here to stay. unlike what MA thinks that Jalal would now lose interest in Jodha.

Wasn't MA conflicting with her earlier fears though?? Earlier she worried that Jodha's influence may bring changes in Jalal. And then finally after the khema night, she worried that now Jalal would lose interest in Jodha.
Does she really think Jalal as fickle as this? That he'd bring changes in himself for a woman who he hates in any case?
Adham seems to know Jalal better!

ha ha! I know I nearly sat up when Hamida announced that Jodha would convert. But then I told my Ma that Hamida would never ditch Jodha. And pretty soon the tables turned and Hamida told Jodha the true reason of her decision to Jodha.

Probably even Jalal is seeing now that Hamida has a better understanding and viewpoint about Jalal's position in the sultunate than Maaham's. This is because Jalal and Hamida share their view of capturing the hearts of the people. Maaham on the other hand chooses to rule by the sword. Which is also a reason why Jodha chose to rely on Hamida completely.

I think Maham has not yet fully understood that she is being weakened although Adham has realized it and pointed it out too...
