Just believe...

Post by ShaliniRobinson on 2013-11-14, 00:59

The objective of the conspiracy - this time - is not to weaken Jalal's position as a king or to usurp the kingdom. The focus this time is on the growing affability between Jalal and Jodha. Someone has seen the mutual hatred getting slowly but surely replaced with mutual acceptance in small degrees - and tried, so to speak, to nip it in the bud.

Among those that dislike Jodha, there is only one to whom she is potentially a very real danger - Sharif-ud-din.

Jodha knows for a fact that Sharif isn't as loyal as he's painted himself to be before Jalal. Jodha also knows for a fact that Jalal is surrounded by people who use him for their benefit - and Sharif is among them.

Even apart from Jodha, Sharif has his long standing ill-will against Amer and Jalal's sudden change of plans regarding its conquest. While Sharif would have wanted Amer, Jalal considered Jodha to be his conquest.

Of course, as of now, there is no way on earth that Jalal would even begin to suspect Sharif. In fact, for Jalal, Jodha's pregnancy holds less significance for Sharif than Ratanpur fort.

While it is yet not disclosed that Sharif is behind this attack - it bears Sharif's signature. The attack comes wrapped in bright, shiny, colorful gift-wrapper - and conceals a dangerous, deadly weapon that has the potential for mass destruction - and the sender of the gift is still seen as a good intentioned heart. As for Ratanput Fort - so for Jodha's pregnancy.

*

The attack is a good one - not by means of its method, but by way of its approach. For although it is a cheap trick, it hits the mark bang-on when it comes to destroying trust between Jalal and his wife.

As Maaham puts it very well - The doctor claims that Jodha is expecting. Jalal claims he's not touched Jodha ever. So, what does it imply?

To any rational person, it implies what Jalal thinks it implies - that Jodha has backstabbed him.

The attack is unique in its deviousness - like a double-edged sword.
The weapon itself is invisible and come disguised as a 'good news’ for the Shah-en-Shah and the Sultanate - the heir is on the way.

It simply fiddles with a fact, tweaks it for its own crooked use, and which hinges on the weak trust between Jalal and Jodha. A fact that Jalal used as a joke to mess with the minds of his two queens - the khema night.

In one masterstroke, the fiddler has managed to severe Jalal's two important relationships - an old friendship with Ruqaiya and a new budding one with Jodha.
He has managed to alienate Jodha from most members of the Jalal clan.
He has managed to undo all that Jalal has been striving to do for several months now.

He has simply played with the trust that was just beginning to take baby steps between Jalal and Jodha.

*

So --- the current status stands as:

Jalal doesn't believe Jodha at all.
Jodha doesn't believe Jalal at all.

Jodha has clearly asked Jalal why he broke his promise.
Jalal has clearly asked Jodha about the father of her baby.

Neither, as yet, sees that the other is not just angry - but extremely and severely hurt.

If Jalal has broken his promise - as Jodha thinks - his reaction at the news would be that of ecstasy, of a victory he gained by humiliating Jodha once more.

If Jodha has backstabbed Jalal - as he thinks - her reaction would be that of vengeful satisfaction of finally having gotten her back at Jalal.

It wasn't in just public that they were quiet - in private they stuck to their stance.

Of course, each one has their own reasons - and rather valid reasons - to believe what they believe.

Their current reactions state the obvious.
While the Amer trip did loads to soften the rough edges, yet the change was only superficial - for obvious reasons of it being new.

Jalal had claimed to trust Jodha when she offered to taste his food before he ate it.
Jodha had claimed to trust Jalal before Ruqaiya that he'd never break his promise to her, unless she allowed.

Here come the claims crashing down. One well-aimed hit and it collapses.

What's more, the approach of Jodha and Jalal towards this matter is strikingly similar to their approach in earlier matters where they stood opposed.

Jodha believes in going all interrogative without bothering about company, place, person, whatever. She needs to ask and know and that's that. She’s gone ahead with one round of that interrogation.
Because she moves ahead with the view that Jalal is in the wrong, she directs all emotions and questions at him - which doesn't get anything out of him. She remains where she was.

Jalal - he first announces his judgment - and then goes off to prove his judgment correct by catching hold of the culprit, as he deems it. He’s gone ahead with announcement of his decision to find out the real father.
Because he moves ahead with his mind already made up with his viewpoint, he looks only in the one direction he thinks he knows is right - which does not lead him to the root of the issue. He just ends up chopping off some low hanging fruit, rather than uprooting the evil.

*

Whether or not Jodha and Jalal are proved innocent and mistaken - and whether or not Sharif is caught - when this is over, the objective of this attack would still be met.

The trust between Jodha and Jalal would be broken. In fact, it is already broken.

The only way that Jalal and Jodha can win is by joining hands, by proving their trust upon each other, by choosing to believe what they know of each other rather than what the circumstances show.

Else - Sharif still wins.

*

The good thing that this attack does - like any other attack -

It reveals the weak points, the chinks in the armor.  Consider it as a test drive for the new Trust car. This test crashed.
But each test teaches something. And if the lesson is not lost - Jalal and Jodha would still win.

*

The good thing is Jalal and Jodha are not alone. Only if they knew who to place their confidence in, they'd have an easier road.
Actually, Salema and Ruqaiya are two people who are dependable allies. They both are intelligent. They both are loyal. They both know the siyasat.
It seems help is on its way once more because as yet Jalal, Jodha and their baby relationship is still stumbling and bumbling its way blindly.

Yup!

In fact, as I was reading it over now - I felt - more of a hunch - that perhaps this chink in the armor was visible when Ruqu confronted Jodha. In that one discussion, Jalal's khema night joke, Ruqu's anger and hurt, and Jodha's announcement of trust all were discussed in one scene - altogether.

What's more - that discussion did not happen in anyone's room. It was more of a discussion in one of the corridors while Ruqu and Jodha crossed each other.

Perhaps, it is this one discussiont that was overheard.

Maaham... yes, Resham's involvement does point to Maaham - if Resham knew the drink was spiked - that is IF the drink was spiked.

If Resham knew, then there is a very small chance that she would not tell Maaham of the spiked drink.

As of now, Resham knows nothing, because Maaham is spending energies to eavesdrop Jalal-Jodha conversation and interrogating the doctor who announced pregnancy.

If Maaham knew it, her stance would be different - at least in private conversation with Resham. However, her thoughts are more along the line of finding out to what month has the pregnancy progressed and thinking back to the time and inferencing that Jodha probably got into the act while on the way to Amer or in Amer.

This was a crucial question from Maaham and it showed her thought-process about the same.

I doubt Resham overheard anything. If she had, the first person to get that information would've been Maaham - not Sharif. Besides, Resham would not do anything for anyone without the knowledge of Maaham.

It was either Sharif or his timid wife - who may have mentioned it to Sharif.

Maybe the sherbet WAS spiked, but Resham had no knowledge of it, just like it was shown y'day that someone (Bakshi Bano most likely) added something to Jodha's drink...

I agree with that. I mentioned the same in an earlier post (yesterday or day before). If the drink Resham gave Jodha was spiked, then probably Resham didn't know of it. Coz if she had known, then Maaham would have known too - and then, Maaham would've known the reason for it too.

All this just points to that fact that there are too many people used to 'front' the game while the real player hides effectively. Therefore, when an investigation is made, people like Resham and Moti would come under the scanner.

Moti should thank her stars that - it was just by chance - that Salema was there in the kitchen and she was alert enough to check Jodha's drink. If Jodha's food is found to be spiked then Moti would be questioned - though of course, Jodha would trust her completely.
