Emily- What Hindu Shastra Says.

Post by SAYAN18 on 2013-03-22, 10:21

Lots of discussion regarding inter-religious marriage.

I saw some well thought of posts on the subject.

Sorry to say that till now no body has tried to

put forward the Hindu-shastra view.

I request my friends here, who are well versed

in Sanskrit and Shastras, to shade some light.

From my limited knowledge, I can just

copy and paste.

NITISASTRA 1.16

visadapyamrtam grahyam

amedhyadapi kancanam

nicadapyuttamam vidyam

stri-ratnam duskuladapi

Meaning - Even from poison extract nectar,

wash and take back gold if it has fallen in filth,

receive the highest knowledge even from a

low born person;

so also a girl possessing virtuous qualities (stri-ratna)

even if she be born in a disreputable family.

Here, in no way Emily is from a disreputable family.

She has better qualities than Mohit.

So, Bhabo has no reason, except her ignorance

not to accept Emily as bahu.

I agree AK..Emily is much better person than Mohit..he doesnt deserve her.

But there are lots of people like Bhabho and think like her...even well educated and well informed people I have seen doing this..so I wont put it across as ignorance...

Its instinct to reject someone because they are not your own religion I would say.. so am not surprised at Bhabho's reaction. After all, if she has problems with a girl like Sandhya who is from her own background but educated, why will she not have a problem with someone like Emily who is not from Hindu at all??
