Characters of vamps are very interesting, says Alka Kaushal

Television actress Alka Kaushal was recently in Indore to promote her ongoing Bhopal-based TV show Qubool Hai and spoke to us about her MP connect and her fascination towards negative characters

"I have been coming down to cities like Indore and Bhopal to stage my plays regularly. People here are receptive towards art and culture. And as a matter of coincidence, one of my current shows is based out of Bhopal! So even though other actors had some difficulty to get acquainted with the intricacies of characters based in MP, for me things were very easy. I may not have a direct connect with the state, but I don't think I have any less love or respect for this land. I feel lucky to have been associated with MP. Once I retire, I'm going to visit all the mesmerising locales of the state. Whether it's Bhopal's Upper Lake, Ujjain's Mahakal Mandir or Indore's Chhatris, this state has a lot to offer," she remarked.

The actress also confessed that she loved doing negative characters more than the too-good-to-be-true female protagonists. "I somehow find the characters of vamps very interesting. We're the ones jinke ungliyon par heroines ko naachna padhta hai (laughs). And they are equally challenging as well. An adarsh bahu can easily breeze into the hearts of the viewers, but it's a Herculean task to be loved as a vamp. It tests the potential of the artiste. And that's what gives me a kick," Alka explained.
